William Minson, a beloved father, grandfather, and retired Air Force veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Fruit Heights, Utah, on July 26, 2023, at the age of 62. He was born on June 12, 1961, to Kenneth Minson and Barbara Strauch, and his journey through life was marked by love, service, and dedication to his family and country.
William, known to friends and family as Bill, had a remarkable life filled with diverse experiences. His military service in the Active Duty Air Force allowed him to live and serve in several countries, including Germany, Turkey, South Korea, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Curaçao, and several locations in the United States. It was during his time in the military that he forged a strong sense of duty, discipline, and honor, and a love for country that would stay with him throughout his life.
Outside of his military service, Bill cherished the moments he spent with his family above all else. He had a deep love for his children and grandchildren, finding joy in every opportunity to be present in their lives. Bill's warm smile and caring nature made him a cherished figure in the lives of those he loved.
Beyond his role as a devoted father and grandfather, Bill had a passion for the open road and the freedom it represented. Riding his beloved Harley Davidson brought him immense happiness and allowed him to experience the thrill of adventure. But even in his pursuit of personal enjoyment, he never forgot the importance of giving back to his community. Bill was always ready to lend a helping hand, serving others with kindness and compassion.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, impacting the lives of many. Bill is survived by his ex-wife Andrea, his daughter Gloria Higley (Tyler), his sons David Chavez (Staci) and Gary Abadian (Bree), and a multitude of cherished grandchildren: Van Higley, Ava Higley, Ryker Abadian, Josie Higley, Chloe Chavez, Estella Chavez, Violet Abadian, Sienna Higley, Elias Chavez, and Jonah Abadian. He also leaves behind cherished memories of his parents, three sisters, and grandson: Donna Minson, JoAnn Minson, Marianne Minson, and Christian Higley who preceded him in death.
In memory of William Minson, the family requests that instead of flowers, everyone honor his memory by being kind to others and taking the time to spend with their own families. These simple acts of love and generosity would undoubtedly bring a smile to Bill's face, knowing that his legacy of caring for others lives on.
Funeral services for William Minson will be held on Monday, July 31st, 2023 starting with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, where family and friends will gather to pay their last respects and celebrate the life of this remarkable man.
