WILLIAM WOODROW OSBURN (WOODY)
9/10/44-12/31/15
Woody was born in Columbus, GA to David Franklin Osburn and Annie Mae Pinkard. He was the second of seven children. He grew up in Columbus and in his younger years he enjoyed going to the country to his Aunt Onie and Uncle Ray’s. He had some very fond memories of the many times he spent fishing and swimming in the Chattahoochee River, running around playing with his cousins, and some really awesome times with family having fish fries on the river bank and making homemade ice cream. He liked to tell people that his Uncle Ray gave him his nickname,” Woody Wood Pecker”.
He later moved to New Orleans to be near his family. There he found his life partner, Joyce Reynolds and they were together for approx 44 yrs. They both loved to play BINGO and one night he actually won $25,000.00. He moved to Layton, UT after Joyce passed away to stay with his sister, Mary Fuller due to his failing health. He loved watching and talking sports. Two of his favorite football teams were the Georgia Falcons and New Orleans Saints. In his later years he became quieter and pretty much a loner probably due to his hearing loss. He loved little children and dogs and they seemed to love him in return. He loved doing yard work and being outside. He was really proud when my neighbors would talk with him about how pretty my yard looked. He spent a lot of time working in my yard. He grew some beautiful flowers. He also loved playing Poker on the slots in Wendover.
Wish to give a huge thank you to so many kind people in the Medical field who tried so hard to assist him and make him comfortable. The folks at Liberty Dialysis, Brett Rawlins at Tanner Clinic, Rocky Mountain Care Facility in Clearfield, Country Pines Asst Living in Clinton, Davis Hospital in Layton, Thatcher Brook Rehab in Clearfield, Heritage Park Care Center in Roy, and so many good people with CNS especially, his Home Health Care Nurse, Sarea Gailey and Hospice Nurse Carrie, all the Social Workers, staff, friends and everyone else that I have failed to mention. A huge thank you to my neighbors, Sheila and her daughter Roenna, for all their love and support during the time they spent with my brother and me. Also, I can’t say thank you enough to Wayne (Sparky) Child, his wife, Jill and their children for their love and support. They were there for Woody and me at a moment’s notice. I appreciate you so much for everything.
He is preceded in death by brother, Ronnie Watson, and sister, Florence Lally, and is survived by sisters, Mary Fuller of Layton, UT, Linda Watson of Shellman, GA , and Wanda Rice and family of Cuthbert, GA., Many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins in Georgia.
