William Perko passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born in Pueblo, Co., served in the U.S. Air Force, employed at HAFB retiring as Engineer Tech after 40 years.
Survived by wife, Donna, son, Lindsey (Janel), two grandsons, Justin and Logan. Bill is also survived by his loving sister whom he shared a special bond Barbara (Michael), their three sons, Mike (Tara) Stephen, Robert (Tara) and their children. Preceded in death by his parents John Joseph Perko and Bertha Carolyn Hund.
Bill loved life the most when out in nature. Bill, Lindsey, and his grandsons frequently explored the desert on ATV’s with anticipation, love, and adventure. They always returned with dirty smiling faces and stories of red rock cliffs, canyons, and new discoveries. At the end of the day we met for yummy Mexican food! Bill served as a Desert Steward in the Mesquite area!
When in Lava Hot Springs the “boys” enjoyed togetherness around a campfire roasting starbursts, riding ATV’s, fishing, and exploring. Bill lived a healthy, active life HIS WAY for 77 years.
Bill had a very special bond and love for CHAD/RONDA (world’s best neighbors) and had weekly if not daily contact even while we were in Mesquite. Again, Mexican food was a big part of our relationship with them.
The family would like to thank HOSPICE for the kindness shown to Bill. We extend a special thanks to Brenda Postel! A special angel with wings on earth.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date in Pueblo, Colorado. The leaves will be green, flowers blooming, birds singing: just as they did in his garden. The only thing missing will be “a man with dirt under his fingernails pulling weeds!” After his interment we will gather at a special Mexican restaurant, share special memories and enjoy Chili Verdi and Enchiladas Rancheros!
