William "Bill" Junior Sessions Aug. 31, 1927 ~ Aug. 7, 2012
Bill was born in Park City, Utah in the "Miners" Hospital and raised in the Vernal-White Rocks-Duschene area. He worked on the family farm/ranch and was the oldest of four brothers.
Bill joined the Merchant Marine Service in September 1944 at the age of 16, with his mother''s permission. In December of 1945 he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and was sent to China in March of 1946 to assist in repelling the Chinese Communists. Bill left China in September 1947 and was discharged in October of that year. His unit was one of the last to return from China.
Bill returned to Utah and had a television repair shop in Tremonton. He studied electronics further and entered the Federal Civil Service at Hill AFB. Over the next 30 years of federal service Bill had the opportunity to travel extensively as his job took him all over the U.S. and the world. Bill lived in many states, on Guam, in Israel and Germany. Upon retirement, Bill returned to Utah, settling in West Haven, where he resided for over 20 years.
Bill loved animals and always had cows in his pasture and was particularly fond of "Ma", a calf he raised from birth. Bill and Venna fed all the stray cats in the area and Bill''s favorite was "Smokey" who would come into the house at night and sleep laying on top of him.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Venna kept a slip at Jordanelle Reservoir for many years. They would spend time at the lake fishing and staying in their RV. While on Guam, Bill was involved in skeet shooting. He become very good at it, winning, or placing in many competitions.
Bill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many leadership positions in his lifetime and was instrumental in the building of the first permanent meeting house on Guam, which was occupied and dedicated in March of 1970.
