William Shafer

William Shafer, 95, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022. He was born on November 1, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to Alonzo Melborne and Sarah Maria Shafer.
He served in the US Navy and was a veteran of WWII serving most of his time in Guam.
William married the love of his life, Donna Esplin on September 17, 1947. They enjoyed 74 years together. Together Dad and Mom enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling and most of all just being with family.
He worked for Holley Cement Company and retired form South Ogden City after 20 years working in maintenance. He was a master mechanic and could fix anything.
William is survived by his children, William D. and Cydney Shafer, Douglas and Sandra Shafer, Diana and Ron Sewell, Connie Bachman, Julie and Ron Branz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; daughter, Christine Olsen; and a grandson, Brian Shafer; three brothers, and one sister.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Alisa, Raleigh, Michelle, and all health care professionals from Symbii Hospice who helped us take care of our parents in their final stages of life.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
