William Jeffery “Jeff” Stubbs

June 19, 1960 ~ December 31, 2017

William Jeffery “Jeff” Stubbs returned to his Heavenly Father on December 31, 2017. He left this life at his home with his loving family at his side. Jeff chose Father’s Day, June 19, 1960, to enter his parents’ lives in Cedar City, Utah. His parents were William Mickelson and Claralice Johnson Stubbs. He grew up in Parowan, Utah, and in his heart, Parowan was always home. He attended Parowan Elementary, Parowan Junior High, and Parowan High School, where he graduated in 1978. He attended the University of Utah where he studied architecture.

Jeff spent much of his life valiantly fighting battles, and for the last 2 ½ years of his life, he fought the hardest battle of them all – the monster we call cancer. He did so with courage, grace, determination, and humor. He focused on the family he loved, and he lived each day for them. We have been blessed by that love and determination.

Jeff was also a warrior in the traditional sense. In February of 2005, he retired from the Air Force after 26 years of dedicated service to his country. Most of that time was spent proudly serving in the Utah Air National Guard’s 109th Air Control Squadron. The men and women of the 109th became like family to him, and he took many cherished memories made with friends and fellow warriors from that family with him. Jeff served several combat tours of duty. Some of these tours included Desert Storm, Bosnia, Iraq, and several drug interdiction tours in the jungles of South America. He loved his country almost as much as he loved his family, and we are proud of the legacy of courage and service he left for us.

Jeff’s civilian career was spent in the Industrial Supply field where he worked for BPC Supply, Applied Industrial Technologies, and Rocky Mountain Baldor. He was well respected by clients and co-workers for his knowledge and ability to help make things move. He met and made lifelong friends in his nearly 30 years working in this field.

Jeff loved animals, including his horse, Belle, and his several canine companions – three of whom miss him dearly, today. He enjoyed traveling, especially with his family. He loved to cook, and he was a master at the barbeque grill and the smoker. He enjoyed fly fishing and tying flies. He was an accomplished marksman who shared his enjoyment of target shooting with his family. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family. Jeff had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, and was honored to be able to participate in their lives.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Cathy Stubbs; his children, Nicholas Stubbs and companion Brittany Lopez, Jason Fifield and wife Marissa, Natalie Kreek and husband Joshua, Emily Hepworth and husband John, Nathan Stubbs, and RaeAnah Stubbs; his sisters, Geraldine “Geri” Norwood and husband Dave Norwood, and Marsha Stubbs Vi; and five grandchildren who filled him with pride and joy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Wasatch Ward Chapel, 6350 Combe Rd., Ogden, UT. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
