William Lynn Thorpe
William Lynn Thorpe passed away at his home on May 4, 2012, from heart failure. Lynn was born in Malad, Idaho on August 27, 1920 to William and Rachel Hamblin Thorpe. He married Glaya Hall on July 18, 1938 and they were sealed together in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in July of 1989. Glaya passed away on February 4, 2000. He married Donna Michaels on April 27, 2009 in Ogden, Utah.
He graduated from Malad High School in 1938 and from Stevens-Henager College in Salt Lake City, majoring in Accounting. For most of his career, Lynn worked various management and supervisory positions within the aero space industry, for the Marquardt Corporation, Thiokol and retiring from Northrup-Gruman Corporation in 1983. Lynn was a private pilot and enjoyed flying. His career allowed him to travel to numerous places around the world, including China, Japan and Saudi Arabia, where he lived for 4 years.
Lynn is survived by his three children, Lewis (Sharon), Ogden, Utah; William Lynn Jr. (Kathryn), Laguna Hills, California; and Deborah (Richard) Marquart, Durango, Colorado; five grandchildren, Shelby (Guy) Evans, Powersville, Missouri; Michael Thorpe, Fernley, Nevada; Bret (Patricia) Thorpe, Ogden; Shane (Angela) Thorpe, Layton; and Jennifer Byrd, Carrolton, Kentucky; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Lynn''s name to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
