William B. Tryon

William B. Tryon

William (Bill) Tryon, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at his home.

He was born September 8, 1923 in Little Water, Utah to John Franklin and Nettie Mae Tryon.

On July 23, 1949, he married the love of his life, Willetta Jones. They were married 59 years at the time of his death.

Bill was a hard worker and he could do everything. He worked numerous construction, heavy equipment, oil rig, mechanic and welding jobs. He retired from Peabody Coal in 1988 as a coal miner and continued to work as a mechanic.

He was a US Navy veteran who served in World War II.

Bill loved to fish, camp and spend his spare time outdoors with his best friends, his family. Flaming Gorge and Moon Lake were his favorite fishing spots.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Bill leaves behind his wife, Willetta; his beloved daughter, Carol Dawn Pettingill and son-in-law, the son he never had, Dennis Pettingill; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Dave) Fowles, Jamie (Anne) Pettingill, Kimberly Martinez, Susie (Scott) Broadhead; 13 great-grandchildren, whom he adored. He also leaves behind two sisters, Joey Roberta Miller, Delma Rosilia Gibbons and some very loved and dear in-laws, Barbara (Gary) Davis, Linda Carter, Pat (Ron) Holbrook, Willis "Buster" (JoAnn) Jones, whom he loved like they were his own children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe and John, two sisters, Lovell and Mary Louisa.

The family expresses thanks and appreciation to Marcus and all the wonderful nurses at IHC Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

The family will meet friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
