William Charles Urry, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at McKay-Dee Hospital following surgery.
He was born to Edwin and Stella Rackham Urry on April 1, 1921.
Bill married Fae East on August 15, 1945. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity.
Bill was part of the greatest generation. Bill tried to enlist in the service but was turned down because of health reasons. He returned home and sold his car to pay for an operation so he could serve his country, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp 8th Air Force during World War II. He was a bombardier on a B-17. He was shot down over Germany and was a prisoner of war for 13 months.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bill and Fae served two missions during retirement, one in Detroit, Michigan and another in Washington, D.C. He was a clerk for six bishoprics. His records were all 100 percent correct. He would balance his checkbook to the last penny.
Bill was a master electrician and served as secretary for the I.B.E.W. Ogden Local and retired from Hill Air Force Base.
Bill was a wonderful husband and father. His children all loved him very much.
Bill is survived by his wife, Fae, and eight children, William C. (Jane), James (Vickie), Robert (Alice), Scott, LeAnn (Randall) Stanger, Colleen (Lorey) Walters, Jill (Shane) Pentz, Glen (Shantel), and brothers, Glenn (Annie) and Bud (Lyn); 32 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Opal Urry, sister, Dorothy Boyer, a granddaughter, Kara Urry, and four great-grandchildren.
He will be missed and loved always by his family and friends. We love you Dad!
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
