Dr. William Vance Wright
On Monday, April 13, at 7:55 p.m., surrounded by six of his seven children, Dr. Wm V. Wright hopped aboard Honor Flight #1918 and with thumbs up and a smile, flew to the loving arms of his predeceased wife, Ellen McDonald.
Known as Smiling Bill to his classmates. He was born April 9, 1918 and had just, a few days prior to his death, celebrated 97 mortal years.
We, his children, honor him. For though he was just a man of inherent mortal weakness, he was also a man of honor who consecrated his life to serving others. He emulated his love for God, family and country. As a High School football captain, a WWII decorated war hero, an outdoors man, a dentist, loyal husband and an instructive father. He was an accomplished poet, an and avid reader. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served throughout his life in varied and extensive callings on Stake and Ward levels. He faithfully and lovingly served as Counselor and Bishop in the Clearfield 1 st Ward. He and his sweet companion served as missionaries in the Cordoba Argentina Mission.
We say to him, as he always said to us, “Good bye for now.”
He is survived by his seven children, Vance C. Wright, Kristine and Peter Ewert, Colleen Spears, Willie and Jefferson T. Dunford, Wesley D. Wright, Walter D. Wright, Louise and John Wm Inderrieden, 30 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, happily referred to him as “Grampa Grapes”.
As a family we thank his daughter Colleen for the consistent, loving service she rendered our Dad and the Hospice Organization for supporting her service to him in his final weeks.
