William “Bill” Penn Rizley
December 31, 1933 ~ February 13, 2021
Our beloved husband, father, grandpa and uncle passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 13, 2021. Bill was born on December 31, 1933 in Dyersberg, TN to Charles and Mary Francis Rizley. After graduating from high school in Dyersberg he joined the Air Force in 1952. He served his country honorably for eight years and always loved his time in the service. He was a Navigator/Radio-Operator with a flight crew on a C-124 GlobeMaster II. After being stationed at multiple airbases he concluded his service at Hill Air Force Base with an honorable discharge.
While stationed in Ogden area, he met the love of his life, Shirley Richardson. Shortly after his discharge they were married on September 20, 1956 in Beaumont, TX. They lived in Texas for a short time before returning to Ogden where he has lived for 63 years.
Bill worked at the US Postal Service for a few years before transferring to Hill Air Force Base as a civilian employee, with 38 years of service he retired in 1989. He then began a second career at Sears Roebuck. He worked part time for 47 years in the Hardware/Paint Department in Ogden.
He always enjoyed spending time working in his yard, taking his dog Tasha III for walks and traveling. He loved watching golf, Jeopardy, Family Feud and Price is Right. He always loved to greet people with a smile, especially during tax season at their family tax business.
His family was his pride and joy. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Having family parties were especially important to him.
Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Richardson Rizley; his four children, Mark (Gayle) Rizley, Centerville; Machelle Canfield, Clinton; Larry (Trudi) Rizley, West Haven; Dena Stewart (Frank Rubio) Centerville. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Henriod, Shane Stewart, Shannon Stewart, Nathan Rizley, Kyle Canfield, Denny Stewart, Chelsea Nizet, Bryce Rizley, Brenda Canfield Solomon, Jordan Rizley, Nick Rizley and Karlie Rizley-Haag. In addition, he was blessed with 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in law, Phyliss Richardson, Sharon Richardson, Carol Richardson (Kent) Bingham; and brother-in law, Glen (Heather) Richardson; many nieces and nephews, He especially loved visiting with Kay Moon, Sandra Smith, Joe Morris and Tom Morris. He was proceeded in death by his parents, four sisters, Shirley’s parents and brother-in law, Gene Richardson.

A family viewing will be held at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
Graveside services for all will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 12 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery.
