William (Bill) Stevenson

Bill, 77, was born November 15, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to George V. and Wanda Scoffield Stevenson, the oldest of six children.  He passed away due to cardiac arrest after a brief illness.

Bill graduated from Davis High School in 1956 where he lettered in basketball and loved all sports.  He also attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in Microbiology.  During summers, while attending BYU, he worked with the Forest Service as a surveyor.  He served four years in the Air Force, with one year in Texas and three years at the Air Force Hospital in France.  After military service, he worked for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a Supervisory Agricultural Commodity Grader and Assistant Officer-in-Charge in California and Colorado for 30 years.  Upon retirement, Bill moved back to Layton, Utah where he grew up.

Bill loved collecting, gardening and landscaping.  He was an avid reader and loved the outdoors.  He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Bill is survived by his mother Wanda, brothers Michael (Grace), Nicholas (Vicki), sisters Luana (Bill) Williams and Melissa (Preston) Cox, sister-in-law Jackie, and also many nieces and nephews.  Bill was preceded in death by his father and younger brother Jeff.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.
