Willis O. Peterson 93, passed away peacefully at home on December 03,2023. He was born at home in Santaquin, Utah to Lula and William Peterson, the third youngest of 10 children.
Willis was raised in Santaquin and attended Payson High School. When his brother-in-law, a WWII Veteran, decided to re-enlist in the Navy Willis chose to join the Navy as well. It was while he was stationed at Moffit Field, California that he met the love of his life Beverly Ann Frederickson. They began their 70 years of marriage on June 20,1953 making their home in San Mateo, California where they would raise their 3 daughters, Terry, Candie, and Vicki.
Willis worked in the gas station business doing what he enjoyed, working on cars and providing quality service to his customers. In 1969 he went to work for Western Airlines as a mechanic on ground equipment. Western Airlines merged with Delta and opened a new hub in Salt Lake City which offered him the opportunity to transfer and return to Utah.
He retired from Delta after 24 years and Willis and Beverly were able travel and found their passion for cruising. They toured Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, Hawaiian Islands, Alaska and even a fall colors cruise along the New England coast up into Canada.
He then settled in at home in Bountiful enjoying life with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He also spent time woodworking, gardening and watching his favorite sports teams on Television.
He was a very special man, with a huge heart, always willing to help anyone in any way he could.
Willis is survived by his wife Beverly Peterson, children Teresa (Steve) Crane and Candie (Jeff) Smith; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren.
Willis was preceded in death by his Parents; 5 brothers Leif, Ralph, Byron, Spencer, Arnold; 4 sisters Helen, Lucille, Thelma, Donna; 1 daughter Victoria Lynn Carmen and 1 grandson Matthew James Crane.
A Graveside Service will be held at Bountiful City Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Friday December 15, 2023. It will be followed by a Celebration of Life for Family and close friends to be held at Stone Creek Ward Building, 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, UT
