Willmetta June Parrish Smith
August 15, 1920 ~ June 7, 2017

Our Angel Mother, Willmetta June Parrish Smith left this mortal realm Wednesday, June 7, 2017. She was born August 15, 1920, to Warren Asa and Willmetta Forman Parrish. She graduated from Davis High School in 1939.

She married Kale VeLoy Smith on April 6, 1941. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1942. They lived most of their lives in Ogden.  Kale died January 18, 2009. They were married for 67 years. They enjoyed square dancing, traveling and doing temple work. June also loved fishing, bowling, sewing, and would never let anyone leave her home hungry.

Her children and their spouses are Paul and Gail Smith, Jeffrey and Linda Smith, VeLoy and Michael Nelson, Delmar Smith, and Douglas and Natalie Smith, along with Dennis Simpson, and Mickey and Carolyn Kuroiwa. Her only surviving brother is Walter Forman Parrish (102).  She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers: Warren Beaumont Parrish, Robert William Parrish, Monroe Asa Parrish, John Spencer Parrish, Wallace Joe Parrish, and Donald Clyde Parrish and their spouses.

During her life she worked at Defense Depot Ogden, Keeley's Café, Lagoon, Layton Noodle Parlor, and she retired from the IRS.

Her favorite callings in the LDS Church were Relief Society President and Visiting Teacher. She was also a member of the Relief Society Singing Mothers.

We give special thanks to Paul and Gail Smith and VeLoy and Mike Nelson for their exceptional service all these years to Junebug as she has been affectionately called.

She has treasured her 22 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Burch Creek 7th Ward, 3680 Eccles Ave. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  and Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
