Willy Marius Bertrand, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born on August 25, 1931, in Belgium to Eugene and Mariette Bertrand.
Willy married his sweetheart, Jeanee Bertrand in Liege, Belgium July of 1954. They had two sons, Michel (1956) and Christian (1966) who were they joy of his life. Willy and Jeanee shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.
Willy served in the Belgian military, where he played a vital role in training soldiers to drive manual transmissions. Seeking new opportunities, he and Jeanee moved to the United States with their son Michel, eventually settling in a home they built in Ogden, Utah.
Willy found his profession at Browning, where he applied his craftsmanship to designing wood stocks and was featured in numerous Browning brochures. Though he was deeply passionate about his work, he never had an interest in hunting.
Known for his quick wit, sarcastic personality and kind heart, Willy had a gift for making people laugh. He cherished the tranquility of the outdoors and had a soft spot for animals, often enjoying the sight of deer from his kitchen window. Above all, his family was his greatest treasure.
Willy is survived by his three grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer), Courtney (Jamie), and Tiffani (Matt); seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Francis; and nephews, Marc and Alain of Belgium. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanee; his sons, Michel and Christian; and his parents, Eugene and Mariette. Though he deeply missed his wife and sons, they are now joyfully reunited.
To my grandchildren:
My greatest wish is that you always know how much I love you. I thought of you and your children every day and those thoughts brought both smiles and tears of joy to my life. I hope you continue to do your best and never forget how much your father Michel loved you.
Until we meet again, I love you,
Grandpa Willy
