Wilmer J. “Bud” Perry
OGDEN - Wilmer J. “Bud” Perry, 89, died Feb 1, 2009 of cause’s incident to age.
He was born Feb 16 1919, in North Ogden, Utah, a son of Jasper Duane and Celia Montgomery Perry.
On May 15, 1945 he married Fay Thomas in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
He attended Weber High School, Weber Junior College, and Utah State Agricultural College. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, the Honorary Business Fraternity at Utah State.
In World War II he served in the US Army.
He was an active member of the LDS Church.
He was employed for 38 years at Defense Depot Ogden. Among his many achievements he received the highest award given by the DOD, the Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
He served over 30 years as a volunteer for America First Credit Union, mostly as a member of the board, and including a term as Chairman of the Board.
He was an active volunteer for many local organizations including the Bonneville Chapter of the American Red Cross as an Honorary Board Member, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, NARFE, and the Weber College Emeritus Alumni Council. He was a volunteer “Conductor” at the Ogden Union Station Museum, and President of the Old Automobile Study Club.
Surviving is his daughter, Sally Thomas, Wellsville; his son, Darren Perry, Hooper; his brother, Robert Perry, Slaterville; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fay; his two sisters; and his grandson, Daniel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment at Lindquist Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
