Winfred Woodrow “Woody” Himelright, Jr.
October 22, 1945 ~ September 22, 2014
Woody Himelright, our loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, nephew and friend, ended his long battle with respiratory disease on Monday, September 22, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family as he passed from this mortal life.
He was born October 22, 1945 to Dorothy Dial and Winfred Woodrow Himelright, Sr. at the Bushnell Army Hospital in Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from Weber High School in 1963, where he was a 3 year letterman in baseball, football, basketball and golf. He attended Weber State where he was on a football and baseball scholarship.
Woody shared his love with sports by becoming an assistant golf pro at Schniters and Ben Lomond Golf Courses, where he taught golf lessons for many years. He was passionate about youth sports and coached Little League football and baseball for many years. He could never be missed with his “afro” hairdo, dark glasses and ever present “right hand man”, Susan, on the sidelines.
He may have been best known as a school bus driver for Weber School District where he worked for 30 years. He was a hard worker. He ran and operated his own upholstery shop, “Woody’s Custom Interiors”. He worked many years on the Coletti Dairy Farm at the end of Pleasant View Drive, where the Himelright home now resides.
Woody also had a love for animals and enjoyed being a member of the Weber County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, as one of 32 riders. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, various collecting hobbies and especially those where he could work with his hands. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, but we are happy and thankful he is once again at peace.
Woody is survived by his wife, Susan, sons, Lance (Tammy) Himelright, Blair (Cindee) Himelright, one sister, Laurie (Dan) Richardson, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with another one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 29th at the Pleasant View Stake Center, 2975 North 1000 West. The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake center.
