Wylie F. Asbury Jr.
LAYTON a" Wylie F. Asbury Jr., 86, passed away Monday, February 8, 2010.
He was born January 12, 1924 in Marfork, West Virginia the son of Wylie F. Asbury Sr. and Laura Turner Asbury.
Wylie''s life truly began when he met and married his sweetheart Sammy L. Boyce on December 8, 1950 in Layton. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Wylie served in the Coast Guard in World War II and retired from Hill Air Force Base as a Packing Supervisor in Heavy Crating.
He was a member of the JayCees and American Legion. He was a Scout Leader, loved woodworking and being with his family.
Surviving are his wife Sammy of 60 years, Layton; two sons, Shayne (Monika) Asbury, Layton; Jody Asbury, Layton; daughter, Angie L. Asbury, Layton; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, Emogene (Johnny) Burns, West Virginia; Jewel Asbury, Fort Myers, FL; and Mary Lou (Roy) Wolfe, Fort Meyers, FL.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bobby, Bill and sister Bessie.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Leech and the nurses and staff at Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
