Yasuko Ujiiye Akisada, 94, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in the presence of her loving son, Brent, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born October 6, 1914 in Ogden, the daughter of Katsutaro and Uta Ujiiye. She attended Ogden City Schools. She worked as a housekeeper and at Hill Air Force Base sewing parachutes.
Yasuko married Tuk Takashi Akisada on February 14, 1947 in Ogden. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1972. Together they had one son, Brent.
Yasuko lived a full and active life. She loved gardening and working in her yard, which she did until a week ago when she was diagnosed with cancer. Yasuko was an excellent seamstress, she enjoyed oil painting and was an avid Weber State basketball and Utah Jazz fan.
She is survived by her son Brent (Sharon) Akisada, two grandchildren, Ryder (Jana) Waldron and Whitney (Jeremy) Greenhalgh and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister-in-law, Toby Ujiiye and several nieces and nephews.
Yasuko was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and six brothers and sisters.
She had many family, friends and neighbors who were very special to her.
The family would like to thank everyone that was involved in her care.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 S. Washington Blvd.
