Yoneko Imaizumi Kiyomura passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016. She was born in January 1923 in Tulare, California, to Eiji and Mito Imaizumi. During World War II, her family was interred at Santa Anita Race Track and subsequently relocated to the Utah-Idaho area. After the war, she returned to California where she married Shigeru Kiyomura and had one son, Robert. She worked for the State of California and after retirement, she and Shig enjoyed extensive travel, both domestic and foreign.
Yoneko and Shig came to Utah in 2006 to obtain medical care and permanently moved to Utah in 2009 to be near their son who became their primary caregiver over the years. Shig passed away in December 2014. Yoneko continued to enjoy knitting, crocheting and beading but looked forward to regular trips to Las Vegas for the daily buffets, shopping and Keno machines.
Yoneko was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son, sister Marjorie and cousin Hiroko. She has nieces and nephews in Utah, California and Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 02, 2016, at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Entombment will follow at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton. The family will greet friends and extended family at 10:00 AM before the services. It is anticipated a 49th Day Service will be held in Las Vegas in October.
