Yvonne Cottle "Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother"
Yvonne Ann Ricks Pratt Cottle, 68 passed away peacefully on June 24, 2010 at her home in Kaysville. She was born October 26, 1941 and was the oldest child of Ben E. and Afton Bawden Ricks. She married her "True Love", Marious Reed Pratt in the Salt Lake Temple on August 12, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1983. She married Lynn A. Cottle for time on June 15, 1996 in the Bountiful Temple.
Her childhood was spent in the Bountiful area and she resided in Davis County her entire life. She loved all kinds of sports and because of this she met her husband, Reed. In their early married years, Reed was injured in an accident, resulting in him becoming a quadriplegic. She spent the next 18 years by his side, caring for his every need and raising 3 children - until his passing. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including athletics, Primary, and Relief Society. During her lifetime, she was employed in several positions, most recently retiring after 18 years of service at the LDS Church Offices. Yvonne loved life and all those around her. She touched many lives and has many dear friends. She was a remarkable example of strength, love, determination, courage, faith, and was full of life and stubbornness. She taught those around her to live life to the fullest and never give up. She endured many years of health problems, with the last 21 years suffering from Diabetes. She faced each day "one day at a time" with a positive attitude, despite the many challenges life presented. She took losing part of her leg in stride and you could often find her climbing a ladder or crawling on the floor with her grandchildren. She loved butterflies and wanted to be free of her broken down body and to fly away. We know that she is now free of pain and can rest in peace.
Her legacy includes her devoted husband, Lynn A. Cottle, three children, Kay (Norman) Hodges, Jay (Irene) Pratt, and Lori (Andrew) Garrett. Her pride and joy, nine grandchildren, Adam (Mindy) Hodges, Brenda (Dan) Rose, Catherine (Jason) Hanson, Amanda (Ethan) Riley, Darin & Justin Pratt, Elisha, Kylie, and Jayden Garrett. She was Grandma Great to four beautiful great-granddaughters, Ella, Abigail, Arya, and Afton. She was also proud to be blessed to share her life as a mother and grandmother to Lynn''s children and grandchildren for the past 14 years. Also surviving are two sisters, Linda (Douglas) Eggett, Georgia (Stephen) Richey, two brothers, Thomas (Virginia) Ricks, and Gordon (Nancy) Ricks. Preceded in death by her husband, Reed, parents, Ben and Afton Ricks and brother Boyd Ricks.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the doctors and staff of Farmington Bay Dialysis Center, McKay Dee Hospital, Dr. Joe Jensen and staff, and IHC Hospice Services and the many friends and neighbors who have loved and cared for her unconditionally. Your tender care of our wife, mother, and grandmother has meant so very much.
Yvonne''s children and family want Lynn to know how much they care and love him and how much they appreciate his tender loving care which has allowed our mother to be with us an additional 14 years. Lynn is the only grandfather the grandchildren have ever known but he always made sure they knew Reed and would constantly remind them of what a great person he was.
Mom / Yvonne, you have given us a great legacy of strength, courage, determination and unconditional love. "Because we knew you, we have been changed for good". Fly with the butterflies and be free and enjoy running and walking with Dad.
