Yvonne L. Dickson
HUNTSVILLE – Yvonne Loraine Burmeister Dickson, 82, died peacefully with her family by her side Monday, April 30, 2007 at McKay-Dee Hospital of causes incident to a stroke.
She was born June 8, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of Clarence Frederick and Ida Mae Hayworth Burmeister.
On June 8, 1946, Yvonne married her eternal companion Thomas Oran Dickson in Sierra Madre, California. The marriage was solemnized on May 26, 1950 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. He preceded her in death November 3, 1999.
Yvonne was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many callings in the Young Women’s, Relief Society and Primary. Her favorite calling was as a director of Road Shows. Her talents in co-authoring and directing many Road Shows was recognized with numerous awards and many of her plays were produced in schools and independent stages throughout Southern California.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, always putting her family first. She was the ultimate hostess and enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Participating in family activities was central to her life. She was an avid reader and loved to sew for her family and neighbors. She also loved volunteering and reading with the children at Valley Elementary School.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Oran (Claire) Dickson, Huntsville; two grandsons, James (Stephanie), Roy; and Dan (Ciera), Columbus, OH; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Jerry (Nadine) Burmeister, Moorehead, KY.
Preceding Yvonne in death were her parents, husband, brother Bob, infant brother Clarence and her sister Janice.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Huntsville Cemetery.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Middle Fork 3rd Ward, 6450 East 1900 North Eden, Utah.
The family would like to express special thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff at McKay-Dee Hospital and Crestwood Care Center for their loving care of ‘Mom’.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Middle Fork ward missionary fund.
