Yvonne Doris Talamantez Pierce, 88, our wife, mother, grandma, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend passed away at home in the early morning of June 10, 2024, with her family by her side.
Yvonne was born on July 17,1935 in Brackettville, Texas to her late parents Octaviano (Babe) and Maria (Mary) Talamantez. They later moved to Oregon, Shelly, ID and Idaho Falls, ID. During her younger years she worked at picking Idaho potatoes. One of her favorite moments was winning 1st place in the state potato picking contest in Idaho.
Yvonne met her husband, Murry, in 1956. They dated two weeks and were married March 31, 1956. They had three children, Kathy, David and Sandy. She was also the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She would do anything for them. She could always be found at her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting and dance competitions, school functions, birthdays, and any other event they participated in.
Mom enjoyed camping, fishing, quilting, crocheting, and playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren. She implemented and maintained family traditions such as making homemade enchiladas every New Years Day and baking a variety of goodies every Christmas, which continues through her posterity. She could always be seen with her camcorder in hand recording family events. Mom was on several bowling teams and coached in the Junior Bowling league. A highlight in her life was being able to see her beloved New York Yankees play baseball after waiting 74 years, getting Mariano Rivera’s autograph, and having her story on the Major League Baseball’s website.
Yvonne is survived by her loving husband, Murry of 68 years. Her three children Kathy (Corry deceased) Sheffield, David (Charlotte) Pierce, and Sandy (John) Christensen. Her seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Yvonne is also survived by her brother Larry Talamantez and sister-in-law Kim Talamantez.
