Zachary George Forbes

July 10, 1962 – August 3, 2021

On August 3, 2021 our superhero was unexpectedly called to his heavenly home. Zachary George Forbes was born July 10, 1962 at the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He was the youngest child of Lewis E. and Bessie E. (Eastman) Forbes. He grew up on the lovely family farm in East Layton when Cherry Lane was still a dirt road. He attended Crestview Elementary, Central Davis Junior High and graduated Layton High in 1980. Later he earned an Associate degree in business.

While working at Gibson’s he fell in love with the girl at the candy counter and married Elaine Olsen March 28, 1981. On December 3, 1986 they took Nicole and Thomas with them to the Salt Lake Temple to be sealed for eternity. Their family was completed with the birth of Zane in 1990.

As an adult Zach lived in Clearfield, Ogden, Roy, Layton, and South Weber. He provided for his family by selling sporting goods, interning with the US Forest Service, and helping to create beautiful homes as a brick and stone mason.

Zach was a High Priest and served faithfully in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Young Men’s, Scouts, Sunday School, Primary, as part of the Bishopric and as a Ward Librarian.

Zach enjoyed many hobbies: rock hounding, lapidary, camping, hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, archery, leatherworking, photography, gardening and spoiling his family with his exceptional cooking skills.

Zach will always be remembered for his stalwart dependability, his kind and gentle ways and for quietly taking on tasks simply because he noticed they needed to be done.

He lovingly attended to his widowed mother until the time of her passing.

He is survived by his loving wife Elaine, sons; Thomas Z Forbes and Zane G Forbes, daughter Nicole (Brian) Palmer all of South Weber, Utah, seven adoring grandchildren, brothers; Dan Forbes (Montrose CO) and Lewis Forbes II (Ventura CA), and sister Tammra Forbes (South Ogden UT).

He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis E. Forbes and Bessie E. Forbes, brother Vaughn T Forbes, sister Rhonda K Forbes and granddaughter Hannah L Palmer.
