Zachary Dennis Vail

Zachary Dennis Vail passed away on the morning of January 2, 2025, at his home with his loving and devoted mother by his side.

He was born on August 14, 1987, in Ogden, UT, to Foster T. DeCora and Christina E. Vail. Zachary and Christina have lived in the Ogden area throughout Zachary’s life.

Zachary has inspired love, courage, strength, compassion, and kindness in his family, friends, and all fortunate to know him. He will be missed beyond measure.

Zachary found great joy and pleasure in being a skillful and knowledgeable “Gamer.” He loved to play and talk about gaming on any system—console, computer, handheld, or VR. He also loved to sketch and paint and had a depth of artistic style all his own. He loved talking with people and never met a stranger because, within moments, he found a commonality and conveyed his kindness and love to everyone.

Zachary had an unwavering love for family. He always looked forward to spending time with his cousins, their children, aunts, uncles, and other family members. Zachary had a special bond with his grandparents, Dennis and Evelyn Vail. Although they have passed, he spoke often of his love for both of them.

Zachary is survived by his father, Foster; his mother, Christina; aunts and uncles; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Dennis and Evelyn Vail, Cousin Ivan King, and many other family members who were close to him.

On behalf of Zachary’s family, we would like to sincerely thank Dr. John Hemmersmeier and his excellent support staff at the Ogden Clinic in South Ogden for their kindness and exceptional care and to all those who cared for Zachary at the University of Utah Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Burch Creek 5th Ward Chapel, 4955 Adams Avenue, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
