Zack Lee Phillips, 86, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 of natural causes.

He was born April 20, 1924 in Tampa, Florida the son of Roy Phillips and Mary Powell. He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School and then attended the University of Florida for two years.

On March 4, 1943, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was assigned to the 828th Bomb Squadron, part of the 485th Bomb Group, flying B-24''s during World War II. He flew 50 missions over occupied Europe. During his service, he was awarded three medals including the distinguished, Flying Cross for bravery.

After the war, he graduated from the University of Florida in 1950 with a business degree.

Zack married his childhood sweetheart, Teddy V. Phillips and their life together spanned over 60 years and five continents as Zack''s military assignments showed the family of now three boys how great life could be. Mom passed away on April 22, 1999 of natural causes. They were married for 50 wonderful years.

Dad was great man, he never complained and lived life to the fullest... we should all be so lucky. He worked hard and played hard. Words cannot express the tragic heart-felt loss by his three surviving sons, Roy Phillips, Portland OR; Mike, (Ret. Air Force Col.) (Cindy) Phillips, Palos Verdes, CA; Zack (Catana) Phillips, Pleasant View, UT; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one on the way. We can''t imagine how things will ever be the same.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17th at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family will meet friends for a visitation on Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m., at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

The family wishes to thank Dad''s "family" at Manor Care, South Ogden, for their years of taking care of him... you guys are the best... you really cared and made our Dad''s final years worth living. Also, thanks to Hospice of Utah for being there for us when we needed you.
