Zada M. Haws

Zada M. Haws OGDEN – Zada McGill Haws, 84, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at McKay-Dee Hospital. She was born July 2, 1922 in Golden, Colorado, a daughter of George J. and Nada V. Alexander McGill. On February 6, 1944, Zada married Robert J. Haws in Ogden. Robert died in 1975. She graduated from Weber State College, the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. She began teaching in 1956 in Blytheville, Arkansas. She taught in Ogden at Mound Fort and Grandview. She retired as the first Ogden City Community School Director in 1987 and became a Prevention Specialist for Weber Human Services until her death. Zada was the founder for the Home for the Holidays Home Tour. She served as past president of the Altrusa Club of Ogden, past chair of McKay-Dee Women’s Council, past chair Midtown Health Center Board, and served on the Weber County Nutrition Board, United Way Executive Board and as president of U.A.A.C.C.E. Surviving are three daughters, Nikki (Richard) Lovell, Ogden; Sidney (George) Pennington, Riverside, CA; Leslie (Jeremy) Rothbaum, Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Grant J. McGill and Pat E. McGill, both of Ogden. Zada was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George and Frank D. McGill. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
