Zane B Froerer

May 6, 2024, surrounded by his extended family, Zane Brown Froerer quietly left this mortal life after nine years of valiantly battling cancer and later ALS. Leaving his loved ones behind to return to his Heavenly Father, Zane also left behind a strong legacy of accomplishment and values. 

Zane married Marilyn Spencer in the Ogden Temple. They were excitedly looking forward to their 50th Wedding Anniversary, which would have been on May 17th. Together, they created a wonderful life and were blessed with eight incredible children.

Zane graduated from Ogden High and attended Weber State University on a machine tooling scholarship. However, he quickly found his passion for business as a real estate agent working with his father, Fredrick Froerer, Jr. As a licensed real estate agent and broker for 50 years, Zane developed strong ties to his community and made long lasting friendships. He was often recognized for his achievements and success in business, including being awarded Realtor of the Year. Those friendships were his most prized rewards. Zane continued his real estate education, receiving many designations including his GRI, CRS, and CRB. At the time, he was the youngest person in the state to earn the CCIM designation. 

Zane found success in real estate, but he also found time to give back to the community and to participate in various organizations. This included acting as the president for a number of organizations including the Ogden Board of Realtors, Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce, Ogden Industrial Corp, Weber Economic Development Corp, Mountain Canal Irrigation Company, and Ogden Kiwanis Service Club. He also served as a trustee on the McKay Dee Hospital board for ten years, as well as serving as a trustee for Wolf Creek Irrigation Co. and Eden Irrigation Company. As if he did not have enough to keep himself busy, during his life he also operated two different roofing companies, a snowplowing business, a tool distribution company, and a resin manufacturing company. Along those same lines, Zane was adventurous and always looking for ways to have fun and celebrate life with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, earned his pilot license, and spent time water skiing, snow skiing, playing racquetball, and playing soccer with his grandchildren. He loved to dance and sing along to the Oldies with his deep bass voice. 

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Bishop, High Counselor, Elder’s Quorum President, Scout Master, and in the Baptistry in the Ogden Temple. 

Zane was friendly and outgoing. He loved people. He was always smiling and thinking of others. He taught his children to serve and to work hard. No job was too dirty or too big for him. He loved to fix things and repurpose what most people thought of as junk. He was clever in solving problems and it seemed he could fix anything. He always had time to fill bike tires or do a quick bike tune-up for his grandchildren. He just loved doing things for other people.

Even as he fought cancer, he seemed to have endless energy and enthusiasm to spend time with his grandchildren. Zane is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Zane (Molly) Froerer, Elizabeth (Daniel) Babcock, Austin (Karen) Froerer, Lance (Breklyn) Froerer, Victoria (Troy) Green, Candy (Ben) Nicholls, and Vienna (Chase) Moffett; 29 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sierra Dawn Froerer; his sweet granddaughter, Charly Elizabeth Froerer; and his parents, Fredrick Jr. and Phyllis Brown Froerer. 

Zane was blessed with eight children, and they will always cherish his memory but look forward to seeing him again. We will miss his homemade root beer, dancing at any given opportunity, socializing with strangers, being the life of all of our parties, and his unexpected visits.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Huntsville Stake Center, 6450 East 1900 North, Eden. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 11:30 a.m.to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery.
