Zelma Johns Snider “Together Again” Zelma Johns Snider, 89, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She was born June 17, 1922 in Pleasant View, Utah the second of five daughters born to Farmer E. and Sarah Jones Johns. She grew up in Pleasant View and learned the value of hard work helping on the family farm. She attended Weber County Schools and graduated in 1940 from Weber High School where she was a Senior Class Officer and has assisted in planning many of the school reunions for the class of “1940”. On May 6, 1942, she married her sweetheart, Howard E. Snider in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Upon his return from military service they made their home in Ogden, later moving to North Ogden. She was an active member of the L.D.S. church. She served as a Relief Society counselor, Sunday School Coordinator, Chorister and organist for over 50 years. Zelma and Howard enjoyed their church calling together doing home teaching and on the Ward Activities Committee. Zelma worked for Intermountain Knitting Mills, The Bon Marche credit department and retired in 1980 from the Internal Revenue Service. Zelma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family. In her younger years, she made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She loved to sew, read and play the organ. Zelma is survived by her three children and their spouses: John and Joyce Snider, Mesquite, Nevada; Gary and Eileen Snider, South Ogden; and DeAnn and Craig Clawson, North Ogden; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Melba (Cecil) Shaw, Plain City; two sisters-in-law, Effie Snider, South Ogden; and Teri Snider, Rapid City, South Dakota; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Hyer, Provo; and Robert Wheelwright, Washington Terrace; She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three sisters: Arlene Byrne, Harriet Hyer, and Lou Ella Wheelwright, a grandson Danny Snider, and a great-granddaughter Sarah Young. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Advocate Hospice, LaDawn, Trudy, and Lola and to Specialty Nursing, Cindy, Genett, Lisa and to Emeritus Estates where Zelma has resided for the last two and a half years.
