Zenda's sudden passing at home on July 2, 2008 is our Heavenly Father's gain and our loss. However, we rejoice in her return to Him and the family members who have preceded her.
Zenda was born April 27, 1946 in Montpelier, Idaho to Harmon and Virginia (Cotton) Cheney. She is a 1964 graduate of Clearfield High School and attended Weber State College. She was employed by Mountain Bell in Ogden, Utah and several shipping lines in the port of San Diego, California.
In May 1977 she met her husband, Paul, in Riverside, California where he was assigned as an Air Force pilot. They were married July 14, 1979 and moved to Paul's next assignment in Marquette, Michigan. Several years later they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1999, they returned to Utah, residing in West Haven.
In 1984, she gave birth to son Casey in Oklahoma City. From that moment and to this day, he is one of the privileged men in her life.
Zenda was a lifelong active member of the LDS church. Her natural musical talents always made her a logical choice to fill callings in that field. She served as ward organist, primary school accompanist and advisor on Relief Society boards to many wards over many years. She was devoted to her faith, and on February 21, 1992, she was sealed to her husband and son in the Dallas, Texas Temple.
Her quick smile and willingness to help others earned her many friends. She loved her music, dancing, crafts and especially her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and daughter of God. She was proof that one person could make a difference.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harmon and Virginia, her baby sister, Debbie, and nephew, Matthew Fullmer. She is survived by husband Paul and son Casey of West Haven, as well as brother Kerry (Jean) Cheney of Kaysville, Utah, sister LaRue (Garlin) Fullmer of West Point, Utah, and sister LaRayne (Jim) Venable of Waxahachie, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Regal Country Ward Chapel, 3939 West 4000 South, West Haven.
Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
