Greg Cooper
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, Greg Cooper, 70, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2016 at his home in Layton, surrounded by his family. Greg had spent many years enduring the side effects from the neurological disease ALD.
Greg was born on September 8, 1945 in Salina, Utah to Don L. and Otheya Cooper. He grew up in Aurora, Utah. He graduated from North Sevier High School then, was drafted into the Navy in October of 1965. Following a medical discharge from the Navy he attended Provo Trade Tech. He then began a career as an Electronics Technician for HAFB where he was employed for 40 years.
He married the love of his life, Cathy Madsen on July 28, 1969 in Ely, Nevada. They had three children; Don (Marilee) Cooper, Bret (Vicki) Cooper, both of Layton, and Stephanie (Brandon) Mason of Aurora, Utah. They have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Greg was a member of the LDS Church and was also involved in the scouting program. Greg loved to go camping, fishing and four-wheeling riding. One of his favorite pass times was fly fishing. He also enjoyed working under the hood of vehicles. There was not much that he could not fix or restore.
Greg truly loved his family and their time spent together, whether it was a camping trip, a vacation or a back yard barbeque. He was ever so selfless and generous in nature, always making sure others were taken care of before himself. He was always willing to give and to help.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, his children, sister Karen (Newell) Larsen and nephews Rick (Marcy) and Mitchell (Jean) Albrecht. He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Vince Albrecht and brother-in-law, Virgil Albrecht.
Greg’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Hearts for Hospice, especially Lori and Jessica for their genuine care.
