Leroy Charles Bell

CLEARFIELD - Leroy Charles Bell, 80, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born November 21, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT, the son of Leroy McGregor Bell and Gladys Ethel Bowers. He was raised in South Salt Lake. He graduated from Granite High School in 1954 where he played the clarinet in the band and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He served an LDS mission to California.
Leroy married Beatrice Arva Taylor on February 27, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Clearfield 9th Ward for over 47 years, where he served in many callings. He served with his wife as ward librarians, missionaries in the LDS Employment Center, and consultants in the Clearfield Stake Family History Center. He enjoyed singing in the ward choir. He served as cub master in the Boy Scouts.
Leroy worked at Hill Air Force Base as an electronics technician for over 30 years. He worked part time as a security guard for several different security agencies. After retiring from the Base, he worked for Petersen Motors as a delivery driver. He had many hobbies that he shared with his family: archery, golf, electronics, leather work, wood carving, gardening, kayaking, rock hunting, camping, and genealogy, to name a few. He enjoyed long drives with his wife and together they cared for many pets over the years.
Leroy is survived by his children: Dennis Bell (Peggy), Leanne Swallow (Jeff), Kathleen Bell, Don Bell (Doreen), 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his brother Alan Bell (Pat), and his sister-in-law Carma Goldhardt (Herb). Preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, March 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Henefer City Cemetery, Utah.
