Jean Denning
Margie Jean (Holland) Denning peacefully passed away January 15, 2017 in Layton, Utah. The oldest child of Ivory Homer and Mary Lillie Holland, she was born on Dec. 16, 1926, in Gilmer, Texas. As a young child, she moved to Manassa, Colorado and in 1941 her family relocated to Salt Lake City. She married Ronald Jay Denning in Salt Lake City on Aug. 30, 1947. They made their home in France while Jay served during the Korean War, upon returning to Utah she and Jay began their civilian careers at Hill Air Force Base.
Following the death of her husband in 1978, Jean began a successful second career as a realtor for Wardley Corporation. It was not uncommon for Jean to spend hours attending to her flowers and garden, her love of gardening was passed on to her children. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served regularly in various callings during her time on earth. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the cabin and with her family.
Jean is survived by her two daughters, Peggy (Dale) Anhorn and Becky (Patrick) Nord; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two brothers, Bill Holland and Mace Holland. She was preceded in death by her husband Jay; parents Ivory and Lillie, sister Audrey and brother Larry.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairfield Village of Layton, Memory Care facility at Fairfield Village and Inspiration Hospice and Home Health services for the care they provided.
